Maintenance guide

Use this guide to ensure correct maintenance for your Kraken Coating.

Washing Methods

Hand Washing (Recommended)
Hand Washing is the best and safest method to ensure you get the best out of your Kraken coating, microfiber wash mitts and microfiber drying towels will help prevent scratching and abrasion.

Self Serve Car Wash (Not Recommended)
Select the high pressure soap. Soap the car down (never use the provided brush!), hand wash with a microfiber sponge or wash mitt, rinse the car off with the high pressure rinse. Dry with clean microfiber towels. We never advise this as the chemicals can poorly affect the coating.

Automatic Car Wash (Never Use)
Avoid automatic car washes, these machines scrub the paint work with brushes and can cause excessive scratching and abrasion to the coating/paintwork.

Washing Process (Paint/body)

  1. Thoroughly rinse the vehicle down with a pressure washer to remove the top layer of contamination.
  2. Pre wash the vehicle using snow foam to remove further contamination before contact wash. (In the case your vehicle is very dirty, we sometimes recommend the use of a citrus prewash to further help the break down of contamination.)
  3. Begin your contact wash using a soft & clean microfiber wash mitt/pad. It is reccomended to use the 2 Bucket method when washing your vehicle. Make sure you begin washing from the top of the vehicle and in a front to back motion. To prevent swirls/scratches withing the coating/paintwork.
  4. Thoroughly rinse the vehicle down again to make sure all of the Shampoo/Product has been removed.
  5. Begin drying the paint using a soft microfiber drying towel or blower of your choice.

Washing Tips

  • For best results the car should be washed on a fortnightly basis to avoid excessive contamination build-up.
  • Avoid washing in direct sunlight to avoid water spotting.
  • Rinse down thoroughly to remove any loose contamination.
  • Always use pH Neutral shampoo.
  • Reduce surface friction by using high quality microfiber wash mitts/pads free of debris,  never rub or scrub the paint.
  • Always use a separate wash mitt/pad for the wheels
  • Work top down as heavy dirty and grime accumulates on the lower panels, rinse your wash mitt regularly to ensure dirt and grime is not being put back onto the paint.

Decontamination Wash

  • It is recommended that every 3-6 Months the Vehicle has a decon wash using Iron remover & a citrus Prewash.
  • Every year we suggest you to have a certified Kraken installer inspect & wash your vehicle to stay on top of this & update your warranty booklet.
